A flat battery in the middle of a validation run means lost data and a repeated study. Knowing which battery your logger uses — and replacing it before it runs low — keeps your loggers reliable.
Which battery does my logger use?
| Battery | MadgeTech part | Used in | |---|---|---| | ER14250-01 lithium (ER14250-LR) | 900097-00 | HiTemp140 series, including the HiTemp140 and HiTemp140-CF | | LTC-7PN lithium, 3.6 V, 750 mAh | 900352-00 | MadgeTech loggers that use a two-lead battery — check your model |

About the ER14250
The ER14250 is a 3.6 V lithium cell in the ½ AA size (14 mm diameter, 25 mm long). The ER14250-01 supplied for the HiTemp140 series is the version specified by MadgeTech for its high temperature loggers. Using an unspecified cell risks leakage, short life or failure at high temperature.
When to replace
- Before critical studies — validation runs, mapping studies and audits.
- When the battery status in MadgeTech software shows it is getting low.
- On a routine schedule that suits how often and how hot the logger is used — heavy high-temperature use shortens battery life.
Replacement tips
- Download all data first.
- Work in a clean, dry area.
- On submersible loggers, inspect the seal and keep it clean; a damaged seal lets moisture in.
- Fit the battery the right way round and reassemble firmly.
- Check the logger communicates and shows full battery before redeploying.
- Dispose of used lithium cells responsibly — never recharge or incinerate them.
Combine it with calibration
Battery replacement is a good moment to check calibration status. See our calibration services.
